Freddie Gibbs Attacks J. Cole, Benny The Butcher & JPEGMAFIA In “Big 2”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Why is Freddie Gibbs so angry?

Freddie Gibbs is in an interesting spot as a rapper. While everyone acknowledges his talent, he rarely gets mentioned in top rapper conversations—let alone a top 100 list. Still, the most important thing is he believes he’s that nice, and when an artist has that mindset, competition is inevitable. In “Big 2,” Freddie gets extra competitive.

Don’t let the song’s smooth production fool you—Freddie Gibbs goes off. With his signature relentless flow, he takes shots at J. Cole for apologizing after online trash talk, JPEGMAFIA for his album’s lack of buzz, and Benny The Butcher for dealing with his crackhead ex. Beyond the disses, he boasts about his ability to go toe-to-toe with anyone, even comparing his car collection to Birdman’s. Why is he so angry? Who knows—he just seems like one of those dudes who thrives on competition. Whatever the case may be, I think he did his thing here.

What is the over/under of people responding to this diss?
