This song straddles the line between real as hell and depressing.
NAV’s music is always highly anticipated, and for good reason—his devoted fanbase connects deeply with his introspective, melodic style. After a brief hiatus following his 2022 album Demons Protected By Angels, NAV is officially gearing up to release his next project, On My Way 2 Rexdale. Leading the charge is the emotionally charged new single, “REAL ME,” produced by Metro Boomin.
For longtime NAV fans, “REAL ME” taps into a familiar theme—his battle with substance use and its impact on his relationships. Over Metro Boomin’s hauntingly melancholic production, NAV confesses that he feels most like himself when coming down from his drug highs. While he doesn’t put up a Mariah Carey-style vocal showcase, his delivery carries a raw, hypnotic quality that lingers long after the song ends.
With On My Way 2 Rexdale on the horizon, “REAL ME” sets the tone for what could be one of NAV’s most introspective projects yet.
Why is NAV wearing a robe in his hood? Is that some kind of flex? The album cover is FYE, though.
