Travis Scott being the grown-up in the room is refreshing.
Kanye West has been on a tirade across Twitter over the past month, embodying a chaotic persona that includes making inflammatory statements and taking shots at both friends and collaborators. Among those in the line of fire were Virgil Abloh, Tyler, The Creator, Ty Dolla $ign, and Travis Scott. Even more surprising, Ye’s tweets also took aim at longtime supporters like J. Cole.
Despite the aggressive tone of his recent online behavior, some of those he’s targeted have chosen not to fire back. Instead, both Travis Scott and J. Cole have responded with grace and respect—highlighting just how much Kanye West has meant to them personally and professionally.
In a recent interview with Complex, Travis Scott described Ye as his “kid’s uncle,” emphasizing their deep-rooted connection. He also acknowledged Kanye’s influence on his artistry, crediting him with helping shape his approach to music.
J. Cole, during a separate appearance, expressed gratitude for Ye clearing the sample for Cole’s hit song “Work Out.” He made it clear that this gesture was pivotal in his early career and remains something he’s deeply thankful for.

While some fans may interpret their comments as passive or dismissive of Ye’s current antics, others see it as a mature and thoughtful stance. When someone has played a significant role in your rise, the choice to respond with respect instead of retaliation speaks volumes.
Still, there’s no ignoring that Kanye’s recent statements have been out of line. But Travis and Cole’s decision to highlight the positive instead of fanning the flames may serve as a powerful reminder that growth and gratitude can sometimes be louder than the drama.
