Baka Not Nice Responds to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Diss Amid Drake Feud

I’m not mad at Baka Not Nice’s response.

During the highly publicized rap battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, several people outside of the main conflict were caught in the crossfire. Kendrick’s lyrical jabs didn’t just target Drake directly—they also mentioned individuals from his inner circle, including his longtime friends and collaborators PARTYNEXTDOOR and Baka Not Nice. While the comment about PARTYNEXTDOOR felt more observational, the line referencing Baka Not Nice took a darker turn, hinting at serious allegations.

Now, Baka Not Nice has broken his silence on the matter. In a recent sit-down interview, he opened up about how the accusations in Kendrick’s “Not Like Us” initially ticked him off. However, he ultimately chose to step back from the situation after receiving a call from Drake—known by fans as “The Boy.” According to Baka, Drake advised him not to take the shots too seriously and to stay focused. That conversation gave him clarity, leading him to find solace in the fact that, if nothing else, his name was trending.

This moment reflects a broader issue within rap beefs—the tendency for the entertainment value to overshadow the real-world consequences of reckless claims. While diss tracks have long been a staple of hip-hop culture, there’s a fine line between bars meant for sport and those that can unfairly damage reputations. Baka Not Nice’s response serves as a reminder of that balance.

At the end of the day, beef is beef—but when it involves potentially life-altering accusations, it’s worth taking a moment to think about the weight behind the words.
